Calm Anxiety and Regain Control of Your Mind
Many people struggle with anxiety at times in their lives. Racing thoughts, constant worry, tension in the body, or a sense of overwhelm can make everyday life feel more difficult than it needs to be.
At Auckland Hypnotherapy Clinic in Takapuna, experienced hypnotherapist Ian Blaine helps clients from across Auckland and the North Shore calm anxiety and restore a sense of balance and control.
Hypnotherapy works with the deeper patterns of the mind that drive stress responses, helping you develop calmer and more supportive ways of responding to situations.
Understanding Anxiety
Anxiety often develops when the mind becomes stuck in a cycle of worry and heightened alertness. Even when you logically know there is nothing to fear, your body may still react with tension, rapid thinking, or a feeling of unease.
Common signs of anxiety can include:
-
Persistent worrying or overthinking
-
Difficulty relaxing or switching off
-
Physical tension or restlessness
-
Trouble sleeping
-
Feeling overwhelmed by everyday situations
-
Loss of confidence in situations that once felt comfortable
While anxiety can feel overwhelming, it is also something that can change when the underlying patterns in the mind are addressed.
How Hypnotherapy Can Help Anxiety
Hypnotherapy works by helping the mind enter a calm, focused state where deeper patterns and automatic responses can be gently adjusted.
During this relaxed state, the mind becomes more open to helpful suggestions that support new ways of responding to stress and worry.
Rather than simply trying to control anxiety with willpower, hypnotherapy helps you:
-
Calm the body’s stress response
-
Reduce overthinking and worry patterns
-
Develop a greater sense of inner control
-
Build confidence in everyday situations
-
Feel more relaxed and present in daily life
Anxiety is a normal human emotion.
Everyone feels anxious now and then.
However – Anxiety disorders are different. They can cause distress in your life and difficulty coping with day to day life. People with anxiety can have high levels of worry, fear and overwhelm.

Panic disorder – Panic attacks out of the blue, without any apparent cause, spontaneously and unexpectedly for no apparent reason

Social phobia – fear of public speaking, fear of crowds, fear of eating in public, fear of what people will think or say about them. For example, they may be out for dinner and see people talking and laughing and believe they are laughing at them.
Specific phobia – a strong fear and avoidance of one particular object or situation. For example, fear of spiders, snakes, heights, dogs or flying.
General anxiety disorder – Characterized by chronic anxiety that persists for at least six months but is unaccompanied by panic attacks, phobias or obsessions. An individual who worries about lots of things often.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder – extended periods of time cleaning, tidying, checking or ordering, to the point that these activities interfere with the rest of their lives.
Post-traumatic stress disorder – Disabling psychological symptoms following a traumatic event. This can result in flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance to situations, places or certain people.
Acute stress disorder – anxiety after exposure to a traumatic event. The symptoms last less than one month. If they last more than one month it becomes PTSD
Anxiety due to a medical condition – endocrine condition, cardiovascular condition etc
Substance induced anxiety disorder – drug abuse, medication – too much or not enough, toxin exposure.
At the Auckland Hypnotherapy Clinic we can work together to reduce automatic thoughts that trigger anxiety. Identify initial sensitizing events where the psychological problem was formed in the subconscious mind. Replace them with new helpful ways of thinking. Gain greater control over your responses to triggers and stressful situations and empower your mind.
Your thoughts are yours to change. Your mind is yours to direct.
Shift your mind from being your worst enemy to your best friend. But wait! There’s more! It’s not only about your cognitive thoughts and subconscious program. Phobias
Rid phobias, calm anxiety and manage stress with hypnotherapy.
A phobia is an irrational fear of a particular stimulus.
People with phobias will respond by avoiding certain situations, places, things or they will tolerate it with anxiety or can trigger panic attacks.
In severe cases the phobia can end up literally controlling a person’s life.
The good news is that Auckland Hypnotherapy Clinic can help you to get rid of your phobia!
I can work with you to access the underlying cause of the phobia and eliminate the conditioned response to the stimulus with use of powerful hypnotic and NLP techniques.
I can help you to help yourself to see your phobia in a different way (at a sub-conscious level) which will become less threatening or disappear completely through shifting your internal perception of that particular stimuli, releasing the emotional charge associated. Making the shift from feeling threatened and in danger to feeling safe, calm and in control.

August 2013
Hello Mr. Blaine,It is with much thanks and pleasure that I wish to relay our experience.
You treated my wife in regard to a life long phobia prior to Christmas along with an added session in regard to pain relief. The results of which I have to say are not short of amazing.
The phobia is gone completely and best of all my wife has no recollection of her former fear. The family are as delighted and amazed as I am at what you have achieved for us, this has improved my wife’s quality of life by a huge degree allowing her to join in activities previously denied her owing to the phobia, just awesome!
The added pain relief session was another success, giving her ease without the need for pain killers for the first time in a long time, again awesome!
I was with my wife at the session and you explained to us fully how the process works which I thought was very professional.
I am recommending yourself to friends and colleagues who may have similar issues as I have no doubt at all that you can help them. Many thanks from us both,
